Gary Gwartney,
P. Eng

President

Mr. Gwartney P. Eng., Engineering Consultant is a professional engineer that brings over 30 years of professional engineering experience in all areas of Oil and Gas operations and exploitation.

Mr. Gwartney has domestic and international experience in operations, facility construction, drilling, completions, joint ventures, exploitation and property evaluation for acquisitions. In addition to his technical background, Mr. Gwartney has management experience in small to intermediate sized Canadian producers and was a founder and director of a Canadian junior capital pool corporation. Mr. Gwartney graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 and is a Professional Engineer in good standing in the Province of Alberta.

Ryan Hodak, DBA

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Hodak brings over 29 years of experience in the energy sector, with a strong background in field operations, facility construction, optimization projects, and regulatory compliance. He has held roles as Production Superintendent, Foreman and Field Site Supervisor, working across Canada, the US, and Mexico. He has managed companies in both the Service and Production sectors of the industry. His expertise includes managing field operations and rotary equipment, with early experience in exploration and service. He played a key role in Pason Systems’ expansion into Mexico and later managed diverse oil and gas properties across Western Canada.

Mr. Hodak has hands-on experience with surface and subsurface equipment, including pump jacks, wireline, and service rigs. He has supervised workovers and construction projects in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. He is well-versed in safety and compliance, including BCER, AER, SMER, ABSA, EPAP, and integrity programs like PIM and POM.

Wendy Woolsey, CPA, CA

Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Woolsey has over 25 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry. She was Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Yoho Resources Inc. from 2005 to 2016. Prior thereto, she held various senior roles, where areas of responsibility included financial and corporate reporting, tax, treasury and capital markets, operational accounting, and business analysis, including Manager of Finance at Baytex Energy and Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Symmetry Resources Inc.

 

Ms. Woolsey has been a Chartered Accountant since 1991 and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

TEAM MEMBERS

  • Brent Grohn brings more than 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including the last fifteen years as a Wellsite Supervisor with Veracity Energy Services. Over his extensive career, he has honed his expertise across various service companies, including Sanjel, Bonnett’s Wireline, Plains Perforation, and Alberta Sub Surface Tools, gaining valuable operational, supervisory, and coordination experience.

    Since transitioning to wellsite consulting in 2011, Brent has specialized in multi-well abandonment projects, downhole operations, completions, coil tubing, slickline, service rig, and wireline operations. He is highly skilled in troubleshooting surface casing vent flow repairs, cement squeezes, workovers, pump changes, and completions, bringing a hands-on approach to optimizing field operations.

    Brent is recognized for his deep technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to operational excellence, making him a trusted leader in the industry.

  • Christine Petersen is a highly experienced accounting professional with over 25 years in the oil and gas industry, specializing in production, revenue, and financial accounting across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Since joining Veracity Energy Services in 2019, Christine has consistently delivered reliable and accurate accounting services, supporting Veracity’s clients with her deep industry knowledge and technical expertise. Her background includes leadership roles at Eagle Energy, Vermilion Energy, and Pengrowth Corporation, where she managed complex accounting operations, led system upgrades, and implemented process improvements. Known for her initiative, precision, and mentorship, Christine is a trusted partner in ensuring financial integrity and operational efficiency.

  • Since joining Veracity Energy Services in 2020, Darren has managed the completion and workover activities for Veracity’s clients. Mr. Zander has over 30 years of operations and completions experience. Darren graduated from the University of Alberta in 1992. He has worked in the service sector and held production and completion engineering roles with major oil and gas companies. His experience spans sweet and sour wells ranging from 200 m to 4000 m. 

  • Mr. Bauman has over 40 years of diverse oil and gas experience including consulting with Veracity Energy Services since 2018. He began his career as an operator at Gulf Canada and Amoco Canada, where he achieved Third Class Power Engineering. He later graduated from SAIT as a Petroleum Engineering Technologist and served as a Production Superintendent and Operations Manager. He co-founded a small oil and gas company and worked across Western Canada including BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. He has supervised pipeline and facility construction, as well as all aspects of sweet and sour well completions and workovers.

  • With over 45 years of diversified experience in the oilfield well servicing industry including 6 at Veracity Energy Services, Jean Perras (JP) has built a reputation for technical excellence and operational efficiency. For the past 28 years, including 6 at Veracity Energy Services, he has served as a wellsite supervisor, overseeing complex completions and workover operations across a range of well types and depths, from 140 to 4,990 mTVD. His expertise spans sweet and sour wells, including water injection, water source, directional, horizontal, and cavern wells.

    Jean has extensive experience in re-entry completions of abandoned and existing wells up to 2,900 meters, utilizing advanced perforation techniques such as electric line guns and tubing-conveyed systems to optimize zonal intervals and surface abandonments. His proficiency in remedial cementing, acid and chemical squeezes, and coil tubing unit operations—including dual tubing string installations, nitrified acid stimulation, and live well cleanouts—has made him a trusted resource in the industry.

    Known for his problem-solving skills and technical precision, Jean consistently delivers safe and effective solutions to complex wellsite challenges, ensuring operational success in Alberta and beyond.

  • Jessica Cunningham is a seasoned land professional with over 15 years of experience in mineral and surface land administration across Canada and the U.S. Since joining Veracity Energy Services in 2023, Jessica has brought her deep expertise in land contracts, title curative work, and acquisitions and divestitures to support Veracity’s clients. Her background includes key roles at Progress Energy, BlackPearl Resources, and EnCana, where she managed complex land portfolios and ensured regulatory compliance. Known for her analytical precision and collaborative approach, Jessica plays a vital role in helping clients navigate land operations with integrity and insight.

  • Mr. Harris has over 44 years of oilfield experience including 19 years with Veracity Energy Services. He has worked with large, intermediate, and small E&P companies, progressing from operator to Field Superintendent. He has managed multiple fields across the Western Sedimentary Basin. His duties have included cost controls, field troubleshooting, mentoring, operator staffing, management of ABSA vessels, direct interaction with AER and SEM regulatory bodies, and experience dealing with First Nations. His production experience includes light Viking oil, heavy sour oil, shallow gas and deep high-pressure gas in the foothills. He has facility design and construction experience and is knowledgeable in well servicing, completions, stimulations, and chemical placement programs.

  • Lisa Mosiewich is a seasoned accounting professional with over two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry. Since joining Veracity Energy Services in September 2017, Lisa has played a key role in managing full-cycle accounting operations, drawing on her extensive background in financial reporting, budgeting, joint venture accounting, and regulatory compliance. A CPA and CGA, Lisa is known for her precision, leadership, and ability to streamline complex financial processes. Her deep industry knowledge and commitment to excellence make her an integral part of the Veracity team.

  • Kale Harris is a highly experienced field operations professional with over a decade in the oil and gas industry, specializing in wireline, snubbing, and wellhead services. Kale brings a strong background in pressure control, downhole tool preparation, and crew leadership. He holds a Production Field Operations Certificate and is pursuing Fourth Class Power Engineering at SAIT. Known for his commitment to safety, mentorship, and operational excellence, Kale is a trusted leader in the field.  Kale has been working for Veracity Energy Services for 2 years and currently provides site supervision, inspection, and regulatory compliance.

  • Katrina Lee has been a cornerstone of Veracity Energy since joining the team in September 2012. Over the years, she has taken on a wide range of responsibilities, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, IT support, and her current dual role as Office Manager and Safety Coordinator. Known for her unwavering reliability and integrity, Katrina is the go-to person for resolving issues efficiently—any time, day or night. Her dedication and versatility make her an invaluable part of the Veracity team.

  • With over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and 3 years with Veracity Energy Services, Kurt Hewitt brings deep expertise in upstream pipeline and facility construction, project management, and regulatory compliance. As a certified API and NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist, Kurt has a strong command of AER, CER, and CSA regulations and standards. His career spans roles in inspection, integrity management, and technical consulting for both provincial and federally regulated pipelines. Known for his hands-on leadership and commitment to safety, Kurt plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and compliance for Veracity’s clients.

  • Mitchell Bauman is a seasoned Petroleum Technologist with over twelve years of hands-on experience in field operations across Alberta’s energy sector. With a strong background in coil tubing operations, production optimization, and regulatory compliance, Mitchell brings a practical, safety-first approach to upstream oil and gas projects. His experience includes five years with Veracity Energy Services, where he contributed to innovative field strategies and operational efficiencies. He holds a Petroleum Engineering Technology diploma from SAIT and has worked with industry leaders. Mitchell is known for his reliability, technical acumen, and commitment to operational excellence.

  • Ms. Wiebe has over 20 years of experience in petroleum geology, including 12 years with major operators (Talisman, Apache) and 5+ years as a consultant. She holds an M.Sc. in Carbonate Sedimentology, is a published CSPG author, and has completed over 25 industry training courses. Her expertise covers carbonate and clastic reservoirs, EOR schemes, exploration/development, and A&D evaluations. She is a member of APEGA with a Permit to Practice.

  • Onalee Orchard is a Professional Engineer with 20 years of experience specializing in production operations and exploitation within the oil and gas sector. Since joining Veracity Energy Services in January 2018, Ona has provided expert consulting in optimizing field performance, enhancing production strategies, and supporting operational excellence. Her deep technical knowledge, combined with a practical, hands-on approach, makes her a trusted advisor and a key contributor to the success of Veracity’s clients.

  • Mr. Mullen brings over 30 years of experience, including 17 years with Veracity,  in the chemical and petroleum sector with a specific expertise in field operations as well as pipeline, facilities and well workover experience. His career includes several years of operations and managerial experience ranging from intermediate to junior companies. Mr. Mullen has personally owned an oil and gas company which gives him a grounded and realistic perspective on the needs of Veracity's clients.

     

    Mr. Mullen also brings a wealth of knowledge regarding safety and regulatory compliance and is up to date on all aspects of good oilfield practice. Mr. Mullen graduated from N.A.I.T. in 1995, Chemical Engineering Technology and has a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.

  • Randy Doetzel has over 35 years of professional engineering experience, including production, operations, exploitation, acquisitions, and field engineering in a variety of basins in Canada, the United States, and Russia. He has held executive, management, and engineering positions at various company sizes, ranging from juniors to large multinational companies, including Blue Sky Resources, Zargon Oil & Gas Ltd., Harvest Operations, Apache, and Veracity Energy Services Ltd., where he has contributed his expertise for the past three years.
Randy recently assisted a client with their strategic alternative process, conducted a thorough review of their properties, and identified over 50% additional production opportunities through reactivations, recompletions, waterflood reconfiguration, and facility optimizations. He also evaluated, negotiated, and successfully closed four acquisitions to grow a client from zero production to over 10,000 boed of operated production in two years.
Randy graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering (with Distinction) and is a professional engineer registered with APEGA.

  • Rob Ellis brings over 30 years of engineering experience in oil and gas operations and exploitation including 7 years at Veracity Energy Services. He has worked on many medium and heavy oil projects, conventional and waterflood schemes, and has strong knowledge in completions, facility construction, and A&D. He has held management roles in small to mid-sized oil companies and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1991.

  • Wayne Ford is a highly accomplished industry professional with over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas sector including 6 years at Veracity Energy Services. He is known for applying his extensive knowledge to foster a positive and cohesive work environment that aligns with the client’s goals and objectives. Wayne brings a unique perspective to every project, incorporating advanced technical and organizational skills into wellsite supervision.

    His expertise spans horizontal, vertical, and directional wells—both sweet and sour—safety compliance, and fracture operations troubleshooting. Throughout his career, Wayne has conducted operations on fracturing, coil tubing, testing, swabbing, cement and acid squeezes, wireline and slickline work, abandonments, and well cutting and capping across Alberta and British Columbia.

    Wayne’s exceptional interpersonal and communication skills enable him to collaborate effectively with on site workers and client representatives. His commitment to operational excellence, safety, and efficiency makes him a trusted leader in the field.
